An Oakland judge Friday handed down the maximum sentence to two people who caused a fiery accident that killed three UC graduate students four years ago on Interstate-80. The judge sentenced Eric Barnes and Stanley Jacks to eight years and eight months in state prison for vehicular manslaughter. The defendants' families had hoped for a more lenient sentence.
